Understanding the Math of 2048

2048 is not a game of luck; it is a strict game of geometric progression. Every tile you merge is a power of 2. Reaching the 2048 tile requires merging two 1024 tiles, which in turn require four 512 tiles, and so forth. The key to winning is maintaining a predictable board state where random tile spawns (either a 2 or 4) never trap your highest numbers.

Rule #1: The Golden Corner Strategy

Pick one corner—preferably bottom-left or bottom-right—and NEVER move your highest tile out of that corner. If your highest tile (e.g. 1024) is in the bottom-left, you should ONLY use three arrow keys: DOWN, LEFT, and RIGHT. Under almost no circumstances should you press UP, as that allows a random '2' tile to spawn underneath your highest block.

Rule #2: Maintain Monotonic Rows

Keep your numbers descending in order. For example, if your bottom row is [1024, 512, 256, 128], a single swipe left allows cascading merges that instantly double your score while freeing up space for new tiles.
